Description

Job Summary:

The Line Cook prepares a wide variety of foods according to recipe requirements and to adhere to product sensitivities and plate presentation. Ensures that all prepared food meets food safety and quality standards.

Incumbent is expected to have excellent attendance and communication skills, possess the ability to build lasting business relationships, and exhibit professionalism.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all food safety rules, laws, protocols, and standards
  • Plating prepared foods based on Chefs guidance
  • Ensure proper execution of recipe procedures to maintain a high quality and consistent product
  • Keep entire kitchen clean; stock and set up rotation
  • Keep prepared food continuously moving out of the kitchen
  • Communicate ticket times and potential problems with the service staff, kitchen staff and Managers
  • Complete assigned prep work for stocking and set up of station
  • Cut meat, mix sauces, combine salads, portion dishes & chop vegetables etc.
  • Assist with Line Checks and ensure every product on assigned station is within sensitivity guidelines and adheres to food safety standards
  • Operate and maintain equipment properly
  • Clean and sanitize throughout the shift
  • Ensure proper rotation of all products and stock products to par

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Cooking techniques such as frying, grilling, sauté, and baking
  • How to operate kitchen equipment
  • Knife skills cutting vegetables as well as proteins meat, fish, poultry

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience of multi-purpose in kitchen or banquets.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, and other personnel

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand, move and walk for entire shift
  • Must be able to bend and stoop frequently
  • Must be able to lift and carry sacks and cases of up to 70 lbs., up to 20 times per shift: places these items on high shelves and in walk-in freezers
  • Must be able to work frequently in a hot and damp environment
  • Must be able to occasionally work in extreme cold temperatures in walk in freezer
  • Must be able to use hands 99% of the time
