Summary

We seek a dedicated Windows/VMware Systems Administrator for our Information Systems Technology department. Responsible for providing technical support within the team of Systems Administrators. Areas of support include but are not limited to VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Veeam Backup and Recovery, and Windows Servers Administration. Support includes troubleshooting, installing, and testing computer systems within established standards and guidelines. Expected to work independently within management and company guidelines. Will have mentoring responsibility for other System Administrators, Desktop and Help-desk Support Technical positions and will work with management in establishing processes, controls, security, and strategy around system support initiatives. Responsible for managing and maintaining a large VMware installation, including LINUX and Windows Servers' virtual machines and storage resources. On-call rotation will be required to work after hours and on the weekends as necessary. Excellent understanding of Windows 2012/2016/2019, VMware vSphere/vCenter 7, and VMware Horizon.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in developing backup and recovery strategies.
• Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
• Ensures data and media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
• Ensures workstation and server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
• Evaluates system specifications, input and output processes, and working parameters for hardware and software compatibility.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer of system support procedures and nuances.
• Incorporate Information Security Best Practices in all aspects of Systems Management.
• Installs and maintains Hypervisor, operating systems, and related software to ensure stable performance.
• Lead role in a wide area of technical expertise.
• Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
• Recommendations in design and new system specification
• Responsibility for high-complexity enterprise systems.
• Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Training of staff members within and without the Systems Administration Department.
• Troubleshoots networking and operating systems problems.
• Works with and understands the roles of members of other departments.
• Performs other duties as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Mentoring of other System Administrators and Technical Support staff

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Three (3) years of system administration experience in VMware 6 and 6.5 and Horizon environments.
• Experience, familiarity, and knowledge of Windows server operating environments, MS Active Directory, and Veeam backups, as well as exposure to industry products, terminology, and trends.

Physical Demands

• Requires physical occasional presence at the Orlando Data Center for Server equipment implementation and operations.
• Occasionally moves equipment such as a personal computer or display weighing up to 25 pounds.
