Columbia's Room at the Inn is a low barrier homeless shelter. We are transitioning from an emergency winter shelter to a year round transitional shelter. We have traditionally relied on seasonal employees and are happy to now offer full and part time permanent positions.

Position Summary: The Shelter Manager at Room at the Inn is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, volunteers, and staff during assigned shifts; ensuring the smooth functioning of the shelter and the well-being of its residents. This role involves managing a team, maintaining a safe and supportive environment, addressing resident needs, and promoting a positive work culture. The Shelter Shift Manager plays a crucial role in upholding the shelter's goal of providing assistance and care to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in social work, human services, or a related field is desirable.
• Proven experience in a supervisory or shift management role, preferably in a shelter or social service setting.
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with shelter residents, staff, and external partners.
• Empathy and compassion for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a commitment to providing person-centered care and support.
• Knowledge of relevant social services, homelessness issues, and community resources.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency in using technology and software applications relevant to the role.
