GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Lower School at Roland Park Country School seeks a full-time Administrative Assistant to provide a wide range of administrative support to the Lower School Head. The Lower School Administrative Assistant (AA) reports to the Lower School Head and serves as the first point of contact for students, parents, and guests to both the Lower School and Little Reds Program. This individual is responsible for creating a positive, welcoming, professional atmosphere. The Lower School at RPCS is a joyful place and this position provides a wonderful opportunity to be part of a dynamic and fun-filled learning environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates professionalism.
  • Coordinates most parent communication including weekly parent newsletters, special events, notifications, parent conferences, and more.
  • Maintains and edits the online schedule and report management system, myRPCS.
  • Manages calendar of Lower School Head.
  • Supports Lower School Head in tracking faculty and student attendance.
  • Supports and acts in accordance with the School's mission.
  • Responds to the needs of the Lower School Head and Early Years Coordinator, including but not limited to other areas as determined by the Head.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must have a positive disposition.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment. Should have strong technology skills, including experience with Google Docs/Sheets/Apps/Email), MS Office.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other constituents within the RPCS community.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have ability to work in a diverse environment and inclusive culture of belonging that values and respects difference across race, ethnicity, religion, and orientation or identity.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, with a high degree of attention to detail. Comfortable with routinely shifting demands.
  • Must be able to act with integrity, be professional, and maintain discretion in handling confidential information.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from college or technical school; or at least 2 years of experience relevant to the position; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Remain in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Repeat motion of wrists, hands, and fingers to operate standard office equipment, such as computer and phone.
  • Requires visual acuity to read a variety of written materials.
  • Bending at the waist, kneeling, squatting, crouching, or lifting objects up to 30 pounds in all directions.
  • Must be able to move around and access all parts of the campus upon request, which includes gym, turf, fields, dining hall, etc.
  • Occasionally ascend and descend stairs in emergency cases.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Desired start date is July 1, 2022.
  • Twelve-month, full-time, non-exempt position.
  • Occasional extended hours required to include evenings and weekends, as business need requires.
  • The Lower School Administrative Assistant is expected to perform their job duties on campus, unless otherwise permitted by the Head of School.
  • As a condition of employment, all employees hired after August 1, 2021 are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and be able to provide proof of such vaccination.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional local travel may be required.
