Medical Front Desk Receptionist (Full-Time)

$14.28 (minimum) - $17.84 (midpoint) per hour plus a $1,000 hiring bonus after 90 days

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

The posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU’s compensation plan. RVU’s full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

RVU offers benefits that include 2 weeks accrued paid vacation days per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, personal days, 13 ½ paid holidays and 401(K) match up to 7% based on employee’s contribution.

Primary Purpose

This position is responsible for greeting patients, check in, insurance verification, scanning/importing, medical records, answering the phone.

Essential Job Functions

  • Greet patients at the front desk and verifying demographic and insurance information.
  • Scan insurance card.
  • Review all appropriate registration boxes to ensure all boxes are marked according to policy.
  • Verify insurance information 1 day prior to appointment.
  • Address any insurance issues with the patient prior to their arrival at the clinic.
  • Collect copays and balances due.
  • Monitor student shadow experience scheduling.
  • Daily deposit.
  • Complete the monthly on call attending physician scheduling with the attending physician and answering service.
  • Mark missed appointments as no-shows.
  • Ensure all new patient paperwork is completed and inputted into the computer.
  • Complete all medical records requests within 5 business days of receipt.
  • Scan and import all patient records into the charts weekly.
  • Review and work task box daily for practice and medical records.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Answer the phones, schedule appointments and route calls appropriately.

  • Direct patients on the referral process.
  • Review accounts for balances if necessary.
  • Block, create physician scheduling templates.

  • Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills as needed in the medical office environment.
  • Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
  • Annual continuing medical education courses to ensure compliance and update to date knowledge on billing and coding.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Administrative assistant or equivalent coursework or at least relevant experience
  • Experience in front medical office work
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with primary care medical office (family medicine, pediatrics or internal medicine)
  • Previous experience with electronic medical records
