Rocket Lab USA is Hiring a CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift Near Long Beach, CA

CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift

Based out of Rocket Lab Headquarters in Long Beach, California the CNC Machinist for 2nd shift will maintain, set up and operate the CNC machines to build flight-ready hardware that meet Rocket Lab specification at the needed rate. 

What you'll get to do:

  • Work with CNC lathe and mill machines
  • Read and translate drawings/CAD models
  • Provide feedback to improve work instructions
  • Work with CNC programmer to maintain tolerances
  • Work to reduce any non-conformances found by quality or engineering.
  • Provide improvement ideas on batch sizes, setups, etc.
  • Track calibration and maintenance of all equipment and tooling in the area.

You'll bring these qualification:

  • 3 years of experience with CNC operation on lathe and mills (lathe expertise a plus)
  • Proven ability to operate multi-axis lathes using sub-spindle and live tooling
  • 3-axis CNC lathe operation and setup experience
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret drawings, GD&T
  • Demonstrated ability in understanding and reading G-code
  • Demonstrated ability in accurately measuring machine dimensions on and off machine.

These qualification would be nice to have:

  • CNC programming experience - NX software a plus
  • Experience with 3 2 axis mills 
  • Experience using Mitsubishi, Haas, and Fanuc controllers
  • Experience using bar feeders
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or precision applications

Additional Information:

  • 2nd Shift Schedule is 4 days x 10 Hrs, M-TH, 2:30 pm-1:00 am. Upon hire candidate must start on 1st shift (5:00 am to 3:30 pm M-TH) to complete initial training for a minimum of 4-weeks or until they are determined to be proficient to move to 2nd shift.
