Manager General Summary

The Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis role will be an integral part of a Finance team focused on delivering best-in-class business service, analysis, and reporting. This role will be responsible for helping to define, build and implement new analytic and reporting use cases to support decision-making for the company. We are early in the journey of building a Business Intelligence & Analytics function that will simplify and automate information delivery—providing advanced insights and analysis to support decision-making. The first wave of digital reporting is underway using Qlik, which will help to unlock value for Rochester’s leadership and functions with business intelligence and analytics.

This position will support key business segments, including Manufacturing, Sales, Distribution, and Corporate, and report directly to the Corporate Controller. Individuals will utilize knowledge and experience to successfully hire and manage a team of analysts. Additionally, the position requires close and collaborative interactions with other key executive positions and departments to support the current business and growth strategy to ensure a highly productive, efficient, and motivated environment. 

Manager Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the business reporting and analysis of financial activities and related operations and staff.
  • Manage the development of business segment-specific reporting and analysis. Support the Manufacturing group to establish key reports and metrics. Support their costing and product pricing efforts.
  • Manage and build a strong, foundational performing team to include the Senior Financial Analyst and possibly an additional Analyst as needed.
  • Hire and develop the performance and development of staff ensuring the team is motivated and committed to exceeding expectations and established goals. 
  • Practice continuous improvement of all systems, processes, and practices to ensure high performance, efficiency, and success.
  • Support and build out various planning processes, including strategic multi-year plan, annual headcount, and capital planning
  • Manage financial systems support and enhancements for Rochester’s reporting platforms (Qlik and Epicor EDA)
  • Provide monthly performance reporting of key metrics, goals, and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform cash projections. 
  • Manage and maintain effective connections with business segment leaders and respective teams.
  • Responsible to generate and interpret multiple ad hoc reports, as needed
  • Lead direct and indirect departments in a highly organized, motivated, and successful manner.

Manager Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent. In addition, the candidate must have at least 7 years of financial planning and analysis management with increasing levels of responsibility. MBA preferred.
  • Requires sound analytical and reporting skills combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to be hands-on yet think big picture and strategically.
  • Proven and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a global environment with people at all levels, preferably in a Manufacturing organization within a small to medium-sized business.
  • Strong experience with enterprise software and business intelligence solutions required (Excel, Qlik, Business Intelligence & Business Objects). Hands-on experience developing information systems across the company.
  • Ability to contribute to multiple work streams at once and prioritize efforts accordingly. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to scheduled conclusions.
  • Proven experience in developing a high-performing team that will meet deadlines and produces data-based insight.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and performance-driven skills.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation. Strong business and common sense. Dedicated, committed leader.
