You might be a good fit for Robert Half's Full Charge Bookkeeper position. This long-term Full Charge Bookkeeper position is located in Weyers Cave, Virginia. In this position, you will be responsible for all general accounting and bookkeeping functions, including the preparation of financial statements, as well as establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
Your responsibilities in this role
- Handling reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll
- Performing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including collections
- Retaining historical records through the accurate filing of documents
- Overseeing accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers
- Producing the trial balance and financial statements, including, but not limited to, balance sheet and statements of income and of cash flows
- Tracking fixed assets to produce depreciation schedules
- Maintaining knowledge of current federal, state, and local legal requirements, ensuring adherence to them, filing reports, and communicating with management on needed actions
- Completing monthly, quarterly, and year end close, on time and in an accurate manner
Requirements- Possess strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree experience a plus
- Fixed Asset Accounting experience
- Experience with journal entries
- Sage 50 experience desired
- Accounts Payable (AP) experience
- Command of Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Proven knowledge of Monthly Journal Entries
- Well-founded grasp of general ledger
- A deep understanding of accrual and cash basis of accounting
- Experience with payroll preferred
- 3 or more years of experience in the bookkeeping field
- High school diploma or similar certification with an AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business recommended
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments
- Ability to multitask and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Competence with financial data analysis and report generation that is prompt and accurate
