PROGRAM DESIGN: RTS facilitates a variety of youth programs including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences and summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people throughout NYC each year. RTS emphasizes the youth development practice of the Circle of Courage in all our programs; creating an environment of Belonging, where young people can build their Independence, find and develop their Mastery skill, and practice Generosity in their communities. At the core of our programs are staff training strategies that enable our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young people in their care who we call Our Future Leaders because that is what they all are.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Training Specialist will be responsible for (i) partnering with Roads to Success’s internal stakeholders and external consultants to develop and implement role-specific orientation and professional development programs; (ii) facilitating orientation and professional development training courses for employees at Roads to Success’s Headquarters and school program locations; and (iii) staying informed of the organization’s training needs and ensuring curriculum and course content are updated accordingly.

ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE:

  • Supervisor: Director of Education
  • Hours: Fulltime, Monday – Friday
  • Compensation: $60,000 – $65,000 per year

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop, implement, and manage role-specific orientation and professional development programs.
  • Provide oversight of Roads to Success’s technology platform for professional training.
  • Effectively organize and facilitate employee trainings, both in person and virtually.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from employees after each training session.
  • Partner with Department leads to identify staff and leadership training needs.
  • Research new training methods and best practices.
  • Provide supervisors with effective methods for developing and training their staff.
  • Create annual training plans and resources for the organization.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in Education, Business, or related field.
  • At least two years of experience in instructional design.
  • At least four years of experience in training development.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Google Docs, and Zoom.
  • Effectively facilitate engaging virtual and in person trainings, including workshops and conferences.
  • Ability to attend professional development sessions to learn new training methods or techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills previously demonstrated ability to connect with and teach course content to an audience with a diverse range of learning styles.
