Roadrunner Freight is Hiring a Remote Human Resource Specialist

As a member of the Human Capital Operations team, the HC Specialist will play a vital role in supporting milestones throughout the employee lifecycle to include recruitment and onboarding, employee relations and performance management, and offboarding. Additionally, under the leadership of our HC Director, the HC Operations team will collaborate to drive consistency and efficiencies across critical HC workflows to better serve the organization.

  • Support Roadrunners with day-to-day questions about policies, benefits, compensation, and leaves of absence
  • Communicate employee benefit programs and resolve employee concerns/questions related to health and welfare plans
  • Handle all HC transactions in Workday throughout the employee development lifecycle to include hiring, compensation changes, job changes, benefit events, leaves of absence, and terminations.
  • Generate job offers and ensure all pre-employment and onboarding processes are completed timely and effectively, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for new Roadrunners
  • Assist managers with tier 1 employee concerns and the disciplinary action process
  • Handle payroll files including severance and short-term disability
  • Handle invoices within Human Capital Department to include all benefit vendors
  • Provide reporting, instructional, and navigational support in Workday across Roadrunner
  • Participate in Workday testing for feature releases, open enrollment, deployment of new features and functions
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs such as health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, workers compensation, and 401(k)
  • Audit Workday data and integration files for accuracy
  • Assist with the development and implementation of a Roadrunner-wide learning and development program for new hires
  • Provide ad-hoc Workday reporting as requested to members of the HC team, Finance Department, business leaders, and external auditors
  • Coordinate the transfer of payroll and benefit data to external vendors, plan providers, auditors, and consultants
  • Compile information for government-mandated reports. Assist in the preparation of government filings and reports related to payroll and benefit
  • Responsible for recommending process improvements and HC efficiencies

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related discipline and at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources.
  • Technical proficiency handling transactions in Workday related to HCM and Benefits.
  • Excellent communication skills; Sense of urgency and ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-energy environment; Ability to develop and maintain strong, effective internal customer/business partner relationships.
  • Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and can create improved efficiency.

  • Remote or Hybrid opportunity in the Chicago or Milwaukee areas.
