Road to Hire is Hiring a Development Manager Near Charlotte, NC

Road to Hire is hiring a Development Manager to build and sustain major donor and corporate donor relationships. Ideal candidates will possess a growth mindset, be an accountable team player that drives results, and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. This position will have an immediate impact, serve on the Road to Hire leadership team and will continue to take on additional leadership responsibility.

Road to Hire (R2H) is a nonprofit organization with a portfolio of programs that promote economic justice for young adults through high school programming, college scholarships, paid apprenticeships and sustained mentorship. A successful candidate will be an experienced Development professional and self-starter with excellent relationship management and communication skills. 

What You’ll Do/ Role Responsibilities: 

  • Design, manage, and constantly enhance the Road to Hire process for an integrated approach to fund development and philanthropy that specifically targets foundations, corporations, and individuals (including major gifts) so that short- and long-term revenue streams can be established and realized.
  • Serve in a leadership capacity on R2H’s development team. 
  • Identify, research, cultivate and solicit donors and donor prospects
  • Design, implement and maintain a donor communications plan to ensure stewardship and donor/prospect engagement are maximized. 
  • Foster a culture of fundraising, development, and Road to Hire storytelling to support the team’s ability to support Road to Hire's fundraising goals
  • Build and maintain relationships with donor prospects, donors, corporate and foundation program officers, business leaders, philanthropists, and others who may be instrumental in the financial well-being and growth of R2H.
  • Develop and implement fundraising campaigns and other fundraising activities; and develop communications and outreach materials that support fundraising programs.
  • Maintain thorough and up-to-date knowledge of R2H donors, their giving histories, and priorities, along with philanthropy in the areas of workforce development and economic justice.
  • Research and write grant proposals and produce grant reports to secure operational funding.
  • Produce fundraising materials (e.g., solicitation letters, thank you letters, grant proposals, progress reports, and other development and informational materials).
  • Comply with all federal and state laws, rules and regulations, all professional standards, and best practices related to fund-raising; update and/or create new internal procedures as needed.
  • Maintain the donor data, in conjunction with current staff, ensuring effective utilization of records, reports, and donor files.
  • Represent Road to Hire at community events; organize and execute community engagement efforts
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned. 

What We're Looking For:

  • A background with 10 years in the cultivation and solicitation of all contributed revenue streams (individuals, corporate, foundation, government, events) with a successful and proven track record for developing, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts.

  • Model a high level of accountability and personal integrity; able to communicate across the organization openly and with respect. 
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with demonstrated consistent sound judgment and decision-making.

Compensation:

  • Cash Compensation Range: $80,000-$100,000**Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
