Job Description

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Director for preventative maintenance, routine, and emergency repairs to permit the continued use, operation and safety of the Assisted Living Community.

Essential Functions (Including but not limited to the following)

• Fix repairs and manages upkeep of common areas.
• Manage apartment turnover, preventative maintenance routines and maintains upkeep of building.
• Perform the renovation/cleaning of turnover units in preparation for new tenants. 
• Ensure that all maintenance equipment is in good working order.
• Take inventory of maintenance supplies and notifying the Maintenance Director of low or depleted supplies.
• Promptly responding to emergency repairs and clean-ups.
• Attend safety programs and staff meetings.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Proven general Maintenance experience.
• Ability to lift heavy objects.
• The ability to safely operate hand and power tools as well as cleaning equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• MN Driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced training in electrical, mechanical, technical building systems and equipment.
• Maintenance experience in Senior Living.

Working Conditions 

• Exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, paint thinners, cleaning solvents,
• Working with power equipment and electrical circuits.
