General Description of Position:

RLC is seeking a dynamic Senior Structural Engineer to join the growing civil/structural engineering team. This position will entail work on a variety of electric power delivery and renewable generation projects as well as commercial and industrial projects. This individual must be self-motivated and eager to work within a multi-disciplinary team. Reporting to the Hallowell or Falmouth office is preferred, but remote working arrangements within northern New England will be considered.

Essential Functions of Position:

1. Prepare plans and specifications for buildings, industrial and utility structures, foundations, and other structures for a variety of projects.
2. Prepare design criteria, calculations, specifications, reports, and other documents.
3. Provide peer review of work by other staff.
4. Serve as lead civil/structural engineer on project teams.
5. Collaborate with other design disciplines.
6. Attend site visits and project site inspections.
7. Prepare proposals and engineering estimates.

Other Functions of Position:

1. Assist project management team on schedule, budget, quality, and other items.
2. Work with business development team to form new client relationships and to generate new business.
3. Mentor junior staff members.
4. Develop internal design tools, templates, procedures, and other aids.

Requirements

1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited school with a focus on structures. A Master’s Degree in structures is a plus.
2. At least ten years of experience in structural design practice of buildings and/or industrial structures.
3. Licensed professional engineer willing to obtain licenses in other states as required.
4. Knowledgeable in the design of structural steel systems and concrete foundations. Additional experience with wood and masonry design considered a plus.
5. Computer skills in the use of AutoCAD, Excel, Mathcad, RISA suite (or other finite element software), and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate within the organization and outside with clients.
