I. Position Summary: * Overall statement of the primary purpose of the job.
Provides support of a non-medical nature for care area. Passing trays and water, transporting, keeping the environment orderly, and providing excellent customer service.
Specific Task/Duties
* List in the order of importance the major responsibilities of the job, results to be accomplished, and estimated percentage of the time spent on each responsibility.
50 % 1. Provides room service for residents, passing trays, ensuring orders are complete and running to kitchen for missing items as necessary.
10 % 2. Transport residents to and from dining room as time allows.
5 % 3. Pass water and refreshments.
10 % 4. Prepare rooms for new admissions and distribute satisfaction surveys prior to discharge.
5 % 5. Answers resident call lights providing assistance with basic requests. Notifies CNA or Nurse as appropriate.
10 % 6. Keeps environment orderly, including supply room.
5 % 7. Attends mandatory safety in-services, education programs and other in-services as directed.
5 % 8. All other related duties as assigned

IV. Position Requirements

V. Essential Functions (Refer to Position Description Guidelines)
1. General Working Conditions
Works in office area(s) as well as throughout facility. Moves intermittently during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel and visitors. Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors. Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.). Attends and participates in continuing education programs. Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants. May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B virus. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
2. Physical Demands of the Position
Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine motor coordination, pushing, pulling and sitting for long periods of time. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively and harmoniously with residents, families, personnel, support agencies and outside agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set forth in the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
3. Mental Acuity Requirements of the Job
Ability to work effectively and independently with all levels of individuals. Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional and physical stress of the position. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility. Must be able to handle multiple assignments in a timely manner.
4. Sensory Requirement of this Position
Ability to read, write and understand the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to distinguish smells and temperatures. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must possess fine motor skill coordination.
