Rincon Consultants, Inc is Hiring an Assistant Controller Near Santa Barbara, CA

Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our growing Accounting team. The successful candidate will be an ambitious, self-directed, proactive problem-solver with a track record of successfully delivering on multiple priorities. The role manages daily operations of the accounting department and assists with special projects and process improvements. It is preferable that candidates have industry experience. Hybrid in-office and at-home work is acceptable, preferably based out of Rincon’s Ventura, CA headquarters or its Santa Barbara office. What Do You Get To Do In This Position:

  • Provide direct supervision, support, and guidance to accounting staff, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Billing
  • Ensure timely preparation and accuracy of financial statements in compliance with GAAP
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records
  • Analyze and proactively investigate variances of current results to prior period and budgets
  • Analyze financial metrics and prepare reports for leadership
  • Oversee cash management, ensuring that accounts payable, payroll, and other payments are issued smoothly and timely
  • Enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
  • Manage and continually enhance proper accounting processes and internal controls to ensure efficient and safeguarded workflows
  • Manage local, state, and federal government tax filing
  • Maintain solid relationships with and provide necessary documentation to outside auditors, tax preparers, and bank associates
  • Assist in preparation of departmental budgets, review budget proposals and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification
  • Execute ad hoc accounting and finance projects as requested by the CFO and Controller

This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university; MA or MBA preferred
  • 10 years of accounting or finance experience with progressive responsibilities
  • Public accounting experience highly desired
  • Deltek Ajera or comparable project-based ERP experience
  • Solid comprehension of GAAP
  • CPA license or successful exam certification highly desired
  • Experience as manager or supervisor of accounting and billing staff; excellent supervisory skills
  • Ability to identify and solve problems; to formulate ideas to increase efficiency and effectiveness of operations
  • Demonstrated anticipatory leadership, future casting and ability to build process/programs for future needs
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail, documentation, and accuracy
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases
  • Experience working with Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • ERP implementation and transition experience desired
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Adaptive to change while managing multiple initiatives
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Unquestionable personal integrity, credibility, and leadership abilities necessary to gain the trust and commitment of individuals at all levels of the organization
