Richard’s Restaurant & Bar has an opening for an experienced Pastry Chef. This is an opportunity to express your dessert and pastry creativity on a seasonal menu. Our desserts are all created in-house without the use of premade items. Please go to our website at richardsboise.com/menus to see our current dessert menu. Job duties: Create and produce a seasonal menu of 5-6 beautiful and saleable desserts for a menu, including all sauces and garnishes. Our dessert menu always includes a gelato-of-the-day as well as our signature Tiramisu Cheesecake; the rest of the dessert menu is up to the pastry chef’s creativity. Bake bread and pastries for breakfast, brunch, and some dinner items, such as biscuits, coffeecake, banana bread, crackers, and English muffins. Prepare desserts and pastries for catering events, including muffins, scones, cookies, brownies, and mini desserts. Ability to create delicious gluten-free and dairy-free desserts and pastries. Cake decorating experience a plus, to fulfill special requests from guests. Chocolate experience and sugar work a plus. Must be self-motivated, be a clean and organized worker, and possess good communication skills. Experience: A minimum of two-years’ experience as a pastry chef or pastry assistant using scratch ingredients, preferably in an upscale restaurant or event center. ServSafe certification a plus. Culinary school graduate preferred. Other: Must be able to stand for 8 hours a day. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Must be able to bend and twist while working. Compensation $20.00 , depending on experience, plus tips from catering events. Health and dental insurance available after 60 days. One-week paid vacation after first year of employment.
