Rhino Foods Inc is Hiring an Operations Supervisor (3rd shift) Near Burlington, VT

Description

HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE TO RHINO:

Supervise daily production for third shift, ensuring resources and systems are available to the team to meet or exceed daily production schedule. Ensure production of high-quality product, and a safe, efficient and positive work environment.

RESULTS YOU’LL BE EXPECTED TO DELIVER:

· Responsible for the daily coordination of people, product, and process to meet or exceed production output targets and expense targets.

· Work directly with Operations Manager and other department supervisors to ensure interdepartmental communication and coordination.

· Provide timely direction and communicate any changes to Production team and supporting departments.

· Develop Team Leaders and direct staff to identify and lead Continuous Improvement initiatives to strengthen line processes.

Production Staff

· Supervise production workers and team leaders. Responsible for communicating with individual team members to insure they are meeting job expectations. This includes timely, direct, positive, and constructive feedback; coaching for action; follow up and monitoring of requested actions; enforcement of guidelines and rules. Complete and timely performance evaluations and goal follow up.

· Participate in the maintenance of the Production Skill Based Pay program: continuously evaluate, monitor, and update the production training program to ensure timely training of a highly skilled and knowledgeable production workforce.

· Ensure that Quality Assurance Standards and GMPs are implemented and met, and that associated training takes place. Ensure that safety procedures and processes are implemented and followed; ensure staff safety trainings are up to date.

Production Processes

· Monitor and adjust process lines for maximum effectiveness. Analyze processes and recommend changes and improvements to meet or exceed labor and throughput targets. 

· Verify daily production results and act as necessary on issues and implement solutions to prevent recurrence. 

· Continuously analyze the operation to identify opportunities for process breakthroughs and the resulting increased productivity. Recommend actions and implement.

· Eliminate re-work, errors and repeated crises by identifying and ensuring correction of repetitive problems at root cause level, i.e., inventory count accuracy, batter errors, use of incorrect raw material part numbers, over staffing, under staffing, equipment downtime, etc.

· Ensure appropriate production coordination and participation in R&D experiments and Product Development process, including ramp-ups, upscales and trial runs.

· Deal with a variety of non-routine problems and assist staff in dealing with routine problems; ensure production problem resolution and correction at root cause level.

· Responsible for reviewing and providing action plans to resolve incident report non-conformances that are generating on a specific shift. 

Administration/Other

· Provide support and leadership expertise for all internal and external audits.

· Collaborate regularly with other department staff to plan and coordinate activities, investigate, and solve problems, exchange information, etc.

· Initiate and facilitate meetings, small group improvement teams, etc. and/or participate as necessary.

· Prepare various administrative reports; clearly document personnel and product incidents and follow up; maintain all required forms and records; respond promptly to written correspondence and e-mail.

· Participate on various committees: Hiring, Safety, etc. 

· May perform a variety of tasks that directly contribute to Rhino Foods but may not directly relate to the primary duties and responsibilities of the job.

Requirements

 SKILLS & EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING:

· Bachelor’s degree plus 2-4 years of experience, or a combination of education and experience; broad base of knowledge and skills related to manufacturing food and production processes. 

· Basic planning, administrative, and personnel management skills.

· Ability to organize and lead a group of people to consistently achieve goals.

· Ability to organize, prepare and implement a plan.

· Ability to give, receive and act on feedback; responsibly express opinions, make requests.

· Ability to communicate effectively; action-oriented; anticipate and solve problems; make decisions and lead others under pressure.

· Ability to convey and receive information in writing and verbally to achieve intended results.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, with team-oriented management methods and ability to collaborate, ask questions, actively listen and facilitate challenging conversations. 

· Passion for mission-driven and socially responsible business committed to supporting employees and placing them at the center of decision making and organizational programs. 

Work Environment

· Manufacturing/factory environment - must be able to be on your feet for extended periods

· Exposure to cold, wet, and noisy (up to 90 dba) work environment. 

· Rhino is a three-shift manufacturing environment. Occasional off shift support and presence is required. Regular weekend work required.

· Infrequent travel to Rhino Foods Distribution Center in Williston.
