International Freight Operations Coordinator in Houston, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

As an International Freight Operations coordinator, you will be held accountable for coordinating and processing International Freight Transportation transactions associated with the movement and delivery of goods on behalf of our customers. The International Freight Operations coordinator manages high volume shipments for distribution. This position is required to work closely with vendors to ensure timely arrival and delivery of containers to warehouses and distribution centers.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  • Plan, coordinate and control all aspects of the operation and provide the highest level of service
  • Execute imports and exports processes for Air, Ocean and Ground transport modes, on behalf of our offices in Houston and Mexico, as well as direct customers in the USA
  • Generate SOPs for all the account assigned
  • Coordinate entire process of imported product from the supplier directly to one of warehouses or customers
  • Obtaining accurate information relating to import/export ocean shipments/documents
  • Facilitating effective communication between Vendors; provides daily carrier support and is responsible for ensuring that all loads are picked up and delivered in a timely manner
  • Communicating with Customer Service, warehouse personnel, for-hire carriers, and steamship lines to resolve shipment and/or service issues, special deliveries and/or order adjustments
  • Track outbound and inbound shipments & work with customs agents as needed (both air & ocean)
  • Coordinating with the Merchandising Team, Operations Team, Warehouse Manager and other teams to collect necessary data to route freight quickly & efficiently
  • Other duties as assigned

    • Strong computer skills and highly proficient in MS Office Suite, Windows, Google Suite
    • Ability to think critically, in the assessment of materials that will help team understand new concepts and procedures
    • Outstanding organization and administrative accountability
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to read, interpret, and create documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, and written correspondence
    • Attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and switch quickly between tasks with exceptional planning and organizational skills
      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
      • Minimum 3 years of Ocean and/or Air Freight required
      • Experience working with team members across multiple functional roles (Preferred)
        PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
        • Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing, sitting, or walking
        • Must be able to lift at least 251bs
        • Perform work with OSHA required PPE, Including COVID19 PPE
