Revenue Management Analyst is Hiring a Brewing Quality Supervisor Near Rochester, NY

JOB SUMMARY

The Brewing Quality Supervisor will be responsible for providing technical quality support to the overall operations and supply chain team, while overseeing all aspects of the brewing quality laboratories (Analytical, Chemical, Microbiological, and Sensory). The Supervisor will be expected to ensure accurate and timely testing, reporting, and communication with appropriate operational departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Development & Optimization

  • Support the Operations, Marketing, Sales, and Purchasing teams in the development, execution, and optimization of new, existing, or promotional products and specifications
  • Ensure team is proactively tracking and communicating project status, issues, risks, and next steps while escalating issues in a timely manner 
  • Assist with the activities of multiple projects, pilot production, and development activities within the quality group

Product Safety & Quality

  • Accurate testing, inspection, and data collection to safeguard raw materials (as applicable), in process, rework, and finished goods
  • Support efficiency improvements and waste reductions without compromising quality 
  • Ensure all methods for testing, storage, and data collection of all products and chemicals meet or exceed applicable TTB and FDA regulations 
  • Incoming material and supplier quality 
  • Oversee and lead root cause, corrective/preventative actions for all brewing issues
  • Perform required consumer and customer quality investigations with outlined Root Cause and Corrective/Preventative Action
  • Participate in the ongoing development, implementation, and improvement of the Quality Management System(s) including statistical review/action of data
  • Execute plant policies and procedures while being a driver for continuous improvement to streamline and improve efficiencies

Laboratory Operation

  • Oversee and lead the maintenance of all laboratory equipment 
  • Oversee laboratory supply inventories to ensure proper stock and ensure budgetary restrictions are met
  • Implement new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives, validating methods, and training employees 
  • Enforce and adhere to GLPs throughout all laboratories 
  • Serves as a liaison between laboratories and EHS in helping maintain safety and regulatory information, including Material Safety Data sheets
  • Provide guidance on laboratory safety compliance and technical subjects 

Technical Resource

  • Provide technical assistance on brewing, packaging testing, and raw materials 
  • Ensure new and existing vendor raw material capabilities are outlined and recorded in conjunction with the procurement department
  • Advanced knowledge of all aspects of brewing: yeast management, raw material management, and brewing process
  • In conjunction with Legal Team, ensure self and staff are up-to-date on labeling requirements and new regulatory rulings as it relates to FDA and TTB
  • Travel to suppliers, contract manufacturers, and customers for technical assistance as necessary
  • Attend technical/trade conferences
  • Develop new products including formulation, nutrition analysis, and instruction for manufacturing process
  • Quality representative for all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party audits

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field
  • 2 years of Brewing Laboratory Management experience 
  • 2 years of brewing science application experience within a malted beverage facility
  • An equivalent combination of education, product development management, and 5 years of experience in food/beverage processing techniques will be considered 
  • Experience in federal food and/or TTB standards
  • Trained in Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and HACCP/HARPC (or other Food Safety Programs)
  • Accredited Brewing Degrees or Certifications preferred
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools, such as Minitab
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems, Enterprise Resource Systems, Supplier Management Systems, and Operational Monitoring Systems 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to handle/feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands or arms
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Able to occasionally bend, climb, lift, and/or move up to 50 lbs
  • Able to work with moving mechanical parts and loud noise levels
  • Able to work with hazardous chemicals 
  • Able to climb stairs and frequently duck under conveyors and equipment
