Senior Brand Strategist Job Description

As Sr Brand Strategist, you will be responsible for working cross-functionally to develop strategies that enhance our clients' brand positioning, optimize their go-to-market approach, and enhance the cohesion of their marketing presence. You are committed to reaching for excellence through big thinking, and in every detail, while embodying passion, teamwork, and demonstrating through deeds and actions your commitment to ensuring Retail Voodoo delivers on its mission to make Better-for-you brand development a force for good.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead brand strategy initiatives that enhance our client’s brand position in the marketplace (e.g., brand positioning, value proposition, mission, vision, values, and audience segmentation, innovation)
  • Lead brand strategy initiatives that support our go-to-market approach for our client’s brand development goals (e.g., differentiation, disruption, growth, and category leadership)
  • Contribute to the cohesion of our client’s marketing presence (e.g., messaging hierarchy, tone & voice) through smart copywriting
  • Maintain thought leadership through continuous research and analysis of our client’s industry and consumer insights, syndicated data, and trend forecasting to identify and prioritize learning agendas that further Retail Voodoo’s strategic objectives and lead to actionable insights that can be immediately applied to our client’s marketing
  • Partner with Account Managers and Design Directors and the broader Retail Voodoo team to understand their responsibilities/goals, identify needs/opportunities, and ensure cross-functional implementation of strategic initiatives
  • Develop and present strategic recommendations to our client’s senior leadership teams
  • Analyze various forms of data with the ability to derive fresh insights that drive results
  • Develop and present competitive and situational analyses
  • Wear both emotive- and data-specific hats; be able to conduct and speak to both quantitative and qualitative market research and the best approach to both for a single brand
  • Use strong written communication skills to develop brand strategy plans and strong verbal communication skills to present and explain to clients
  • Stay updated on current market trends and initiate discussions with clients and leadership on insights that will best position our customers' brands
  • Manage primary research and research partners from scheduling and fielding through the distillation of findings into insights
  • Strategize, facilitate, and lead innovation processes, workshops, and consumer testing including concept authoring, fielding, and distillation of insights to make the case for new products and services.
  • Guide Marketing Activation processes by leveraging your network of agency partners, freelancers, and fractional SME
  • Expert use of the art of storytelling with brand strategy frameworks

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of relevant experience in brand marketing
  • Use Brand strategy, plan development, and implementation management for multiple client accounts
  • Proven ability to work across multiple brands and brand strategy disciplines (e.g., segmentation, insights, messaging, brand architecture, etc.)
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with other business units to solve complex problems collaboratively
  • Collaborate and contribute to internal teams in keeping with Retail Voodoo's vision, values, and best practices
  • Proven ability to influence via relationship building, communication, and presentation skills
  • Project management skills to organize complex work across multiple priorities, stakeholders, and timelines
  • Analytical acumen to understand and apply insights from previous brand and category performance, consumer trends, innovation, and competitive matrix
  • Mastery of presentation, influence, and workshop facilitation
