  • Primary Function
  • Resia is seeking a highly talented and experienced Chief Estimator to support our US operation. The Chief Estimator will report to the Director of Preconstruction. The Estimating Department is responsible for preparing budgets and estimates for all Resia projects, and to support projects that are in the development phase. The primary responsibilities of the Chief Estimator includes creating a centralized cost database, performing full material and labor takeoffs (which include all MEP trades) while working closely with the Procurement Department to create accurate and reliable estimates. This key member of our team will passionately lead the development of creative, innovative solutions to construction challenges for large complex multi-family projects.

    Responsibilities

  • Typical Duties and Responsibilities
    • Develops individuals and teams to create sustainable knowledge and skills for estimating management through coaching and mentoring.
    • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to lead estimators in preparing time, cost, and labor estimates for projects under various delivery methods.
    • Develop organizational talents, skills, and competencies within the estimating team.
    • Support the Estimators in process validations, controls, and risk management.
    • Serves as a resource for problem identification, improvement, and resolution.
    • Provides complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex projects and supports personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids.
    • Interprets architectural and engineering plans and modifications.
    • Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, and attends pre-bid meetings with the Procurement Team to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimate.
    • Assists the Procurement Team in meetings with Subcontractors/Vendors to ensure complete scopes and aligned strategies.
    • Assists the Procurement Team to perform risk and contract management responsibilities on bids.
    • Researches and leads process of continuous improvement in estimating methods.
    • Provides advanced leadership to drive development of staff. Involvement in strategic recruitment and staffing, succession planning, and training. Serves as mentor and coach to lower-level Estimators and provides counsel to experienced Estimators.
    • Participates in final executive-level meetings to ensure that final estimate reflects the decisions of management including turnover and closeout reviews.
    • Develops strategic plans with project sponsors.

    Qualifications

    Ill. Qualifications and Experience

    • Minimum of 15 years’ work experience in construction estimating related to multifamily.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
    • Advanced degree and/or training in management desired.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acceptable.
    • Demonstrate the ability to lead multiple projects and pursuits at any given time.

    lV. Knowledge and Skills

    • Advanced knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques and construction contract.
    • Advanced understanding of all engineering disciplines and cost control systems.
    • Knowledge of means and methods to generate accurate scope and pricing, managing bid day processes, and overseeing other estimators & support staff.
    • Ability to manage multiple estimates throughout the US.
    • Excellent communication skills, with ability to express ideas clearly and objectively, both orally and written.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Be a self-starter and highly motivated, with the capability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Detailed and organized team player with demonstrated delivery in high pressure situations.
    • Extensive knowledge of estimating and project management software.
