Position Summary
Big Bend Community College (BBCC), a rural college serving vibrant, culturally rich communities in the Columbia Basin of Central Washington invites applications for a Career Services and Workforce Development Coordinator. This position is responsible to develop and facilitate the delivery of career services for BBCC students which includes the development of content and training plans for a variety of career topics, plan and oversee job fairs and career events, and coordinate with area employers to establish student work-based learning opportunities.
This full-time, admin/exempt position is part of the Workforce Education (WFE) department and reports to the Dean of Workforce Education.

Essential Job Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Provide academic, and career advising to students.
  • Oversee BBCC's participation in planning and implementation of job fairs and other career events, such as industry spotlights.
  • Maintain and support industry contacts and relationships.
  • Develop and facilitate the delivery of comprehensive career services for all BBCC students
  • Develop content, training plans, monthly/annual schedules, workshops, and other activities for a variety of career and soft skills topics.
  • Provide support in developing advisory committee membership
  • Connect faculty/students with and support coordination with industry/employers for tours, classroom visits, speakers, internships, and other work-based learning (WBL) opportunities.
  • Assist the Dean of Workforce Education with the development, implementation, assessment, and reporting of Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) strategies
  • Actively participate in community activities and committee work that promotes the goals of Workforce Education for the state and the institution.
  • Supervise and evaluate student workers and volunteers
  • Support the Dean of Workforce Education with other activities as assigned
OTHER WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
  • Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
  • Ensures compliance with college policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner and ensures the interaction with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive to the college's values.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as may be required.
DUTIES OF THE POSITION REQUIRE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE IN, AND ABILITY TO:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to engage in one-on-one and in public forum conversations with students, parents, and the public.
  • Use technology, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, to accomplish daily work.
  • Work independently and reliably. Some hours outside of regular business hours may be required.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Think critically, problem solve, prioritize, ensure accuracy, and utilize sound judgment to make independent decisions in a variety of situations.
Minimum & Desirable Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
At time of application, all candidates must possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and professional work experience as determined by the college.
  • Previous work experience assisting job seekers with honing job search skills, identifying and working toward career goals, finding suitable careers, boosting networking skills, and getting referrals to employers.
  • Working knowledge of office technology including Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Zoom and other online communication tools.
  • A valid, unrestricted driver's license from Washington or another state.
  • Current valid automobile insurance.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience providing services to students in a college setting.
  • Minimum five years of experience demonstrating ability to implement projects in complex systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience applying government/organizational policies and regulations.
