Position Overview The Production Engineer role is critical to the establishment and success of the Production Engineering function within the Canada Business Unit (CBU). At Repsol, the mission of Production Engineering is “to maximize returns from production in a cost-effective manner”. The Production Engineering function concentrates on the detection and analysis of production plan deviations, proposing and designing tailored solutions for production maintenance and identiyfing production optimization opportunities and the associated implementation plans. Additionally, Production Engineering focuses on costs, promoting only corrective/optimization actions that can be economically justified while targeting cost reduction opportunities that will improve production profitability. Repsol has an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineer in our Edson Asset. Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for providing technical oversight, mentoring and establishing best practices related to the asset’s production engineering activities. These activities are key for field development planning and the optimization of asset production, injection and profitability and will be performed in accordance with company policy and Safety and Environment regulations. Responsibilities Analyze, troubleshoot, provide technical input, and recommend solutions for problems related to well completion design, well workover design, artificial lift design & operation, various day to day operational issues. Familiarity with and ability to optimize plunger lift controls an asset. Define, prioritize, design and provide engineering support for rig/rigless well interventions, servicing for monitoring, optimizations, recompletions, and integrity workovers ensuring operational continuity during interventions and complying with Repsol's legal and internal regulations Assess production bottlenecks, propose solutions and implement. Review and use the existing integrated flow models to optimize the pipeline systems, quantify the impact of various flow scenarios and propose solutions including field compression changes. Provide support and technical feedback on compressor optimization initiatives. Lead data validation and Asset recommendations related to technology and software changes, updates, and Repsol digitization initiatives. Validate and reconcile production systems data, ensuring information complies with Repsol’s standards (PMS) Monitor and validate production deferment information to ensure it is tracked and defined according to guidelines. Propose and/or support deferment mitigation initiatives in collaboration with other disciplines. Monitor production, and major and minor outage events for integration into a weekly forecast. Prepare and implement a well integrity plan including well inspection, monitoring, data analysis and corrective actions. Review, monitor and optimize chemical programs in fields. Define and review process improvements within the Production Engineering Team. Lead and ensure the transfer of critical knowledge to other team members, including EITs Validate and collaborate on technical studies conducted by other Production Engineers Review operational processes to optimize operational costs. Propose solutions and collaborate on justification on implementation. Support safety and environment practices and policies. Be ready to add to best practices with new ideas and technologies. Prioritize regular fields trips for opportunity identification. Take on leadership role in ERP on call rotation. Qualifications and Key Skills 7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, focused in Production Engineering Active APEGA registration Experience with Repsol software a benefit (Energy Components, OVS, iWit) Familiarity with discounted cash flow analysis and economic metrics; ValNav (DPI, NPV, ROR etc.) Data management skills – Power BI, High level Excel PETEX suite knowledge for Integrated production modeling (Prosper, GAP, PVT-P, MBAL) Candidate Profile Safety-first focused, always striving for operational excellence Strong leadership and mentoring capabilility willing to share knowledge, train and coach other team members Team player with strong collaboration focus Able to influence without formal authority, working with minimal supervision Analytical mindset with a focus on troubleshooting, creative problem-solving and continuous improvement Active learner, engaged in the industry and knowledgeable about new technology and best practice Additional Information Only applicants who are legally entitled to work in Canada will be considered This position is a permanent, full-time position based in Edson, Alberta, Canada Edson is located in west-central Alberta, 192 km west of Edmonton Relocation to be provided to the selected candidate Job posting end date: 30-09-2022
