What will the role entail?
- Participates in the monthly GAAP closing process by analyzing, determining and preparing journal entries.
- Performs and completes complex monthly account reconciliations.
- Verifies the integrity of monthly results by completing various analyses and interpreting the data.
- Participates in the evaluation of anticipated transactions and assists with implementing needed changes to the financial statements and related disclosures, including the impact on risk-based capital.
- Prepares and reviews state premium tax returns, monthly and quarterly withholding tax filings, and year-end 1099/W-2 forms.
- Assists with statutory and regulatory state quarterly and annual filings.
- Other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.
- Position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- A minimum of four years' experience in general accounting required.
- Peoplesoft experience, premium taxes, as well as accounting experience in the insurance industry with knowledge of statutory accounting principles are preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
- Position requires intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills, and the ability to communicate results both orally and in writing and reporting.
