Description

The Assistant Field Operations Manager reports to the Location Manager, and works closely with the Field Operations Manager on all field activities associated with the production of soybean and wheat seed. These activities include but are not limited to grower recruiting/prospecting, grower contracting, grower training development, and field production activities. The Assistant Field Operations Manager will work closely with the Field Operations Manager and the Location Manager to ensure all processes are conducted in a safe and cost-effective manner, and that continuous improvement occurs in all areas of responsibility. The Assistant Field Operations Manager will support the Field Operations Manager and Plant Operations Manager to ensure quantity and quality requests for each customer are met. Other responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Performing work activities safely and in a professional manner.
• Employee safety training and compliance to safety programs.
• Assist with implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System within the field production process.
• Assist and train growers on proper production techniques needed to ensure good seed quality.
• Provide daily supervision of full-time employees working within the field production process.
• Train and supervise temporary and seasonal employees.
• Assist in scouting of soybean and/or wheat acres as outlined in the Quality Management System. 
• Assist with bin inspections and bin sampling.
• Assist in coordinating delivery of bulk seed to the facility.

Requirements

• A 4-year college degree in Agriculture preferred but not mandatory
• Agriculture background is beneficial
• Computer skills required, advanced skills preferred
• Understanding of seed production or minimum of four years of related experience
• Excellent communications skills with positive attitude
• Employee team building skills
• Attentive to detail and accuracy
• Well organized
