Quality Assurance Manager

As a QA Manager at Relay, you’ll be responsible for mentoring, managing, and growing a high caliber team of QA and SDET professionals to support our team in architecting a next generation payments network. In this role, you’ll help shape technical strategy, support the team to set and achieve business outcomes, and establish processes to help the team operate effectively/efficiently. You’ll work closely with the rest of the management team to create an environment conducive for creativity to thrive.

The transportation and logistics industry has continued to run on cash and industry-specific checks (similar to cashiers checks) since the 1970s.  About the Role

• Own software quality and the Quality Dept at Relay
• Own the Product, Engineering, and Design incident frequency key result
• Accountable for the development and coverage of test plans to protect against software regressions; coordinates the Quality Dept to execute these with speed and precision
• Accountable for the accuracy of test cases, both manual and automated; understands the product and its workflows enough to inform this accuracy; coordinates with PMs to stay up-to-date on product changes and is accountable for adding/modifying test cases, as necessary
• Works with the Release Team to integrate necessary processes to reduce risk of deployed regressions
• Identifies risks in the software development process, proposes solutions to reduce them, and works with product/software engineering management to implement proposals
• Player-Coach: QA Manager is ready to jump in and do IC work, as necessary
• Sets the tone for members of the team: attends in person all-hands events and leads by example

About You

• 10 years of experience managing and leading teams
• Experience driving process improvements at the team and department level
• Experience mentoring others: engages in architectural decisions, leverages pair programming, gives thoughtful feedback in code reviews, helps with problem/solution discovery
• Experience working closely with product managers, designers, sales, customer success, and other stakeholders
• You strongly value automated testing and implementing good testing practices
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical folks; able to articulate decisions, justify trade offs, and create alignment with business needs
• Strong customer empathy and desire to deliver a high-quality user experience through your team
