Job Description Summary The purchasing clerk ensures that all assigned storeroom operations such as ordering, issuing, receiving, restocking, inventory, report preparation, and storeroom maintenance are properly and accurately completed on a daily and/or specified basis. This also involves tasks such as evaluating product quality, researching different vendors, and negotiating contracts. Success in this position requires strong organization and communication skills. Job Description Responsibilities Creates purchase orders, ensuring relevant procurement procedures have been applied and all supporting documentation is attached. Calls in orders daily and on specific order days, meeting deadlines times for products such as dairy, eggs, ice cream, and other items as requested to accurately fill requisitions daily. Ensuring that invoices received reconcile to purchase orders and created and matching receipts to purchase orders. Carries out periodic controls to ensure that the filing system are properly used and that documents being regularly filed and easily accessible. Reads and understands requisitions and identifies stock by reading labels, differentiating colors, and prices for accurate issues, proper stock rotation and correct pricing to maintain inventory control. Works in extreme temperatures and narrow aisle ways to retrieve from and restock shelves. Inform supervisor of any fixture or equipment failure for proper maintenance. Ability to anticipate quantities to be ordered to ensure proper stocking. Follow OSHA and Sonesta policy guidelines. Requirements Working knowledge of food and beverage items to ensure proper issuance and stocking. Basic mathematical skills necessary to track and receive specific volumes of deliveries. Working knowledge of the appropriate stock levels for any given time in inventory and the amount of time the item will be fresh. Some experience with food and beverage in the retail or hospitality field preferred.
