The Geology Technician conducts independent data analysis to support the Geoscience Department, operating as a technical professional under the general supervision of Geoscientists and the Technical Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, organize, and manage corporate geologic data and databases.
- Provide input on database improvements based on evolving corporate needs.
- Deliver broad analytical support to the Geoscience team, including managing access to multiple data types, loading data into interpretation software, and maintaining data from various sources.
- Maintain and update documentation for Standard Operating Procedures.
- Collaborate in a team-oriented environment, handling requests and providing individual contributions to advance projects.
- Ensure project data is current and aligned with the requirements of ongoing geologic work.
- Assist with software upgrades, transitions, and database migrations.
- Coordinate with other departments to resolve data-related issues.
- Provide intermediate-level training for systems users as needed.
- Engage in training programs focused on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards to enhance safety practices and job performance.
Experience & Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience supporting geologists in oil and gas exploration and production.
- Proficiency in geologic programs like ArcGIS, Petrel, and Kingdom.
- Ability to write and implement scripting (e.g., Visual Basic, Python).
- Intermediate understanding of geological principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Solid project management and task organization abilities.
- Demonstrated positive attitude and alignment with company values.
- Experience working across multiple oil and gas fields, with exposure to state regulatory agencies.
Salary : $80,000 - $108,000
