Red Stag Fulfillment is Hiring a Chief Financial Officer Near Knoxville, TN

Red Stag Fulfillment is a logistics and fulfillment organization built to enable companies to grow and scale their businesses. Headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, Red Stag was born out of eCommerce with one mission: to enable our clients to grow their business by redefining the 3PL experience for both clients and employees. By leveraging technology to ensure accurate, reliable, secure, and fast shipping, we have quickly established ourselves as a world-class fulfillment and logistics company.

At Red Stag Fulfillment, we understand that our team members are our most important asset. We have grown into one of America’s best order fulfillment companies by building a team of people who are eager to be a part of our growth. To make this happen, our team members show up and give their all every day. Our core values are of paramount importance and inform and guide all our decisions. Here at Red Stag:

  • We act like we own it.
  • We sweat the small stuff.
  • We have positive attitudes.
  • We treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • We always seek to improve.

About the role:

The world of e-commerce is moving at lightning speed, and the pace of change requires blending financial rigor and agility to optimize data-driven financial decisions. Reporting directly to the CEO, we are seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our team as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO is responsible for managing all of Red Stag’s financial matters and is a critical member of the Executive Leadership Team. The CFO will ensure sustainable, long-term growth by ensuring that we make informed financial decisions by instilling a relentless discipline of forecasting, planning, cost and variance analysis, and capital planning.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can support high level strategic planning, long-term operational and capital forecasting, as well as not being afraid to dive into the details on a day-to-day basis.

Are you who we’ve been looking for? If:

You are a passionate, action-oriented financial analytics wizard who loves to dive deep into the business so that you can understand all the levers that can, and should, be pulled to maximize the long-term financial performance and profitability of the organization. You love to use your deep understanding of financial data to deconstruct the business and prescribe better solutions. You dig deep into the unit economics and are passionate about ensuring the organization knows exactly which levers to pull to drive the business forward. In short, you love to use both operational and financial data to figure out “where the puck is going to be” and then help the business define and execute solutions to get there.

Your prior experience in in complex manufacturing or similar labor-intensive business arenas has prepared you to help teach others the value of building a discipline around unit economics and the value of variance analysis and forecasting.

You are a proactive, team-oriented leader who thrives to be part of a growing organization. You love building things and seeing businesses scale efficiently and effectively. You understand the difference between short-term and long-term profits and fully embrace a long-term and sustainable approach to creating those profits.

You are seeking an opportunity to join a rapidly growing company and be part of building something special. Because of this you aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves, get up to speed quickly, and do “whatever it takes” to get the job done.

In short, if you are more comfortable with someone directing your day-to-day activity – i.e., telling you exactly what to do - then this is not the position for you. But, if you like the idea of rolling up your sleeves and actively growing in new areas, then Red Stag might be your perfect fit.

Expected Outcomes & Responsibilities:

  • Help define and drive our overall business vision, strategy, and execution in collaboration with other key executives and departments.
  • Continually build, improve, and optimize systems, processes, tools, teams, and activities that profitably and sustainably grow Red Stag’s revenue, earnings, customers, and value.
  • Consolidate operational and financial data into meaningful information that can be used to make effective and agile business decisions.
  • Decode the unit economics of the business and understand the levers that determine the outcomes we are seeking to create.
  • Demonstrate proven ability in developing models and conducting analyses that identify critical trends, support decision making and create forward visibility.
  • Take a hands-on leadership approach to developing and maintaining comprehensive costing and pricing systems.
  • Lead and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis of actual operating, capital, and project spending, vs. plan, forecast and prior year, including responsibility for driving cost control.
  • Manage the financial performance by developing forecasts and budgets and monitoring performance against plan.
  • Partner with executive and senior leaders to push the boundaries of current and future organizational goals and strategies. Clearly articulate the key drivers of the business and develop processes and procedures to report, track, and manage.
  • Drive change with the organization through robust financial analyses and strong business partnerships.
  • Manage the production of reporting tools (dashboards, scorecards, etc.) and key financial performance metrics to provide management insight into revenue and operating expense trends, track project spending, headcount, and potential risks/opportunities to forecast or plan.
  • Lead the finance and accounting teams and work with the Controller to provide timely and accurate accounting of the state of Red Stag's business.
  • Identify staffing needs and recruit, train and develop team members in Accounting and Finance arenas.
  • Develop and maintain a system of internal controls to ensure 100% compliance & transparency.
  • Develop the financial planning and accounting operating practices.
  • Fiduciary responsibility for the financial health of the Company.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • A hunger and passion for learning, getting stuff done, and serving our clients and team members that will raise the collective bar of our entire team.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with leaders across the organization and delivering exceptional results.
  • Skilled in strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting processes and building complex models.
  • Skilled in analyzing and synthesizing large amounts of data to create meaningful insights and prescribed actions.
  • Proven leader skilled in identifying opportunities, taking initiative, exercising sound judgment applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated ability to lead broad teams in fast-changing complex business environments.
