Red Envelope is leading the search for a Payroll Support Specialist at a company that operates 30 companies in transportation, specialty chemicals, and environmental services.

Reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Payroll, the Payroll Support Specialist supports the day-to-day operations across the PeopleSoft, Viewpoint and Payroll Tax teams. The Payroll Support Specialist is the first point of contact regarding payroll forms, union payroll correspondence and payments, employee garnishment and child support payments, employee payroll tax forms and post payroll activities as well as managing the data entry/audit process for direct deposit, employee tax setup for payroll, employee tax forms, Fresh Service ticketing system and post payroll reporting and data collection for audit requests.

Schedule: Hybrid role- Monday, Wednesday, Friday remote and Tuesday/Thursday in the office.

Status: Temporary Full Time Position Through April 2024

Responsibilities:

80% Payroll and Payroll Tax Support

• Maintains knowledge & understanding of applicable state and federal payroll and related tax regulations, legislation and guidelines including, but not limited to writs of garnishment, child support, levies, and subpoenas.

• Reviews and verifies payroll reports and documents for accuracy before uploading 3rd party files for 401K, HSA, Taxes, Union reports, Expert Pay Child Support files, garnishments, banking, positive pay, GL Reports, etc.

• Review information received through various methods for paycheck processing with PeopleSoft or Viewpoint software to answer any questions from employees.

• Administers employee wage garnishments and child support deductions.

• Completes monthly union check requests and coordinate timing of system updates to avoid payroll disruptions

• Assists in researching and resolving employee pay issues

• Responds to employee requests for written wage verification, etc.

• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and ensures quality of own work

• Prioritizes and plans personal work activities to effectively utilize time

• Maintains confidentiality and the highest degree of integrity

• Responsible for managing the daily payroll inbox through Fresh Service ticketing system.

• Processes and verifies new hire/termination payroll data and setup, including but not limited to pay cards and/or direct deposit requests/tax forms.

• Gathers data for any audit requests related to unions, etc.

• Assist where needed across all functions of payroll for PeopleSoft, Viewpoint and Payroll Tax

• Constantly maintain payroll and payroll tax data integrity for accuracy

20% Process Improvement

• Strives to identify continued efficiencies and processes to limit manual transactions and improve Fresh Service support.

• Completes other duties as assigned

• Assist Payroll Department in any projects and special assignments, as required.

Requirements

• 3 years payroll and/or payroll tax experience

• Experience in union work environment

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Knowledge in PeopleSoft, Viewpoint Vista, or Microsoft Excel a plus

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and the highest degree of integrity

• Must be able to work in a team environment
