Real is Hiring a Remote Senior Data Engineer
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer who is passionate about mental wellness. The Senior Data Engineer will contribute to the company’s growth by building and maintaining Real’s data pipelines. The Senior Data Engineer will make sure everyone at Real can trust good quality data to learn about our users and build a better product that will engage more people to prioritize their mental health.
The Senior Data Engineer will report to the Head of Data.
The ideal candidate has experience OR extensive experience in Data Engineering, ideally in Healthcare tech companies.
The company is based in NYC, though the role is remote
A day in the life:
- Build streaming pipelines to collect app events, clinical data and demographics information from various data sources and reroute it into a data lakehouse.
- Remodeling data to make it more accessible to other team members.
- Clean, dedup and reduce the dimension of the data so that itll be more presentable and useful for further analysis.
- Work closely with the engineering team to shape infrastructure that makes analysis simple.
- Handle system maintenance and operational tasks.
You’ve got:
- 5 years of hands-on experience in software engineering, data structures, and developing reusable data integration and streaming platforms using Python or another comparable language
- Expert knowledge of data infrastructure ecosystems.
- Strong analytical and SQL skills with demonstrated strength in data modeling, data warehousing and ETL development.
- 2 years of experience with AWS; Lambda functions, glue, S3 and HIPPA compliance architecture.
- 3 years experience with data lakes, warehouses, and data mining tools such as: Big query, Snowflake,dbt, Stitch, Looker, Databricks….etc’
- Love diving into complex business processes and finding ways to utilize data to solve them.
- Great communication skills and ability to explain your work, design and tradeoffs decisions.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship building, and project management skills.
- Have experience building data platforms from scratch.
- Experience with ML
- Experience with automation tools like terraform.
- Strong desire to learn new techniques and technologies.
