Description

Title: Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer shall be responsible for establishing cost quotes, processes and procedures to produce high quality products manufactured within the company.

The duties shall include but not be limited to the following:

1. Work with Engineering and Sales Departments in establishing quotes for existing, new or special products.
2. Collaborate with other departments to determine ways to reduce costs of products.
3. Investigates process improvement opportunities, including Advanced Manufacturing techniques (Robotics, Additive Manufacturing, Software Systems). May be required to program and support such equipment in production
4. Read and interpret detailed drawings and job specifications with a clear understanding of GD&T.
5. Drawing skills using CAD software to draw work holding, fixtures, or tooling related to the manufacturing processes.May also design and layout manufacturing equipment and cells.
6. Prepare or update routings describing the sequence of operations required to produce the product to the required tolerances and specifications.
7. Determine required set-up and run standards for each process step.
8. May program CNC equipment using solid modeling CAM software.
9. May specify tooling to perform manufacturing operations and create detailed tooling data and set-up sheets.
10. May determine work holding, cutting tools, speeds and feeds required for machining.
11. Knowledge of variety of materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, aluminum, sand castings (alum & iron), die castings and weldments.
12. Monitor job orders to determine if latest engineering revision changes or shop floor changes have been updated on operation sheets and/or tooling records prior to orders being released.
13. Assist Shop Supervisor, setup person and/or operators with production related problems.
14. Complete Non-Conformity Reports (NCR) for dispositions, root cause and corrective actions per Hilliard Quality Manual standards.
15. May be required to assist with supervision as needed.

Qualifications

Requirements:

1. AS Degree in Manufacturing/Industrial engineering or equivalent experience.
2. Accept direction, projects and other duties as assigned from Department Manager.
3. Maintain cooperative and open communication with all personnel and departments.
4. Proficient with computers; Microsoft Office Suite, CAD and CAM a plus.
5. Be able to perform duties in an ever-changing fast-paced environment.
6. Support Continuous Improvement activities.
7. Follow all Hilliard Safety regulations.
