Job Summary: As part of the Design Systems team you'll be responsible for creating the foundational patterns, UI components, and documentation that empowers our enterprise vision. You will collaborate with creatives across all of our product surfaces.
Job description: Our mission starts with you! On the Experience Team (Constellation Design System), you'll provide input on every aspect of UX, from research and concepting, to design and creating specs for hand-off. It requires a precise eye for detail, creativity, compassion, and problem-solving abilities. You are a strong systems thinker and visual designer with hands-on experience working on design systems libraries for enterprise products. You know a design system is more than documentation, it's the way we work together. You naturally cross borders and break down silos between disciplines, empowering designers and engineers to work quickly with high standards for quality and consistency. You'll need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to achieve agreement with partners and stakeholders. Your impact will reach far beyond our team to set new standards for the digital manifestation of the brand.
In this role you will...
- Lead strategy and design for universal, reusable patterns in the Constellation library
- Be responsible for outreach and enablement with product teams across the organization
- Bring visibility to the value and progress of patterns with senior leaders
- Advocate for healthy balance of time and effort from shared resources (as contributors to the design system)
- Collaborate with the other designers across labs and families to ensure coherency of design patterns
- Understand and socialize end-to-end pattern creation and promote best practices for the design system team
- Work with Engineering, Content Strategy, User Research and Product teams to best understand multiple use cases
- Present designs at design critiques and update as needed
- Partner with the UX research and other product teams supporting the user testing of design system components
- Conduct competitive and comparative analysis; outside-in thinking
- Iterate on designs based on feedback from internal users and clients
- Leverage the research insights to form a design solution and drive alignment across teams
- Define Patterns with thorough usage documentation, guidelines, and rationale
- Collaborate with UX Strategist and Systems Lead to realize the design system's vision
- Work closely with design system developers to ensure components and designs are implemented to spec
- Accommodate accessibility needs through reviews with the Accessibility Office
- Train and mentor junior staff in best practices of user experience design. Provides guidance, training, and motivation
- Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned
What it takes...
- You have experience designing with a systematic approach for consumer-facing digital products.
- 8 years of product design experience focusing on user experience and visual design.
- You are thoughtful about accessibility and inclusive design.
- Proficient in Figma
- Some level of technical competence in coding, frameworks (Angular), and/or CMS (Adobe Experience Manager
Specializations that'll make an impact:
- Experience building or contributing to design systems libraries, from gaining adoption to guiding contribution and maintaining component libraries
- Experience collaborating with engineering partners
- Submitting a cover letter and portfolio
