Systems Engineer

Our client is looking for a Systems Engineer for a contract position. The Systems Engineer's role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the servers and storage systems that support the company's applications utilized by the corporate business functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

Desired Skillset:

• College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or information technology or 5 years of equivalent work experience
• Experience operating one or more Microsoft deployed services including: Certificate Services, Active Directory Federation Services, File and Print Services, messaging, DNS, and DHCP
• Experience with managing Active Directory including end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
• Hands on experience managing guest virtual machines on a VMware or Hyper-V hypervisor host.
• Hands on experience managing File Shares on Windows Server or other CIFS based NAS.
• Experience managing computer configuration utilizing Group Policy.
• Basic familiarity with utilizing Powershell scripting to perform systems administration tasks.
• Basic understanding of managing server backup and restore operations.
• Collaborative, self-motivated, flexible, and tenacious in arriving at successful outcomes
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, especially interacting across constituencies with varying levels of technical knowledge
• Demonstrate a "Continuous Operational Excellence" mindset applied to all activities

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, operate, and support Microsoft Windows Server environment.
• Management and administration of Active Directory in a multi-forest environment.
• Operate and support virtualization platforms in a multi-hypervisor and multi-site environment.
• Manage and deploy operating system and application security and system updates in a multiplatform environment.
• Manage file share permissions and access management.
• Operate and maintain compute infrastructure hardware platform including standalone servers and chassis-based blade servers.
• Manage storage capacity and utilization in a converged infrastructure environment.
• Ensure security of the compute environment by remediating vulnerabilities, responding to risk findings and security incidents, and providing evidence of audit compliance.
• Manage SSL certificates signed by internal and external certificate authorities.
• Manage authoritative DNS zones using a third-party platform.
• Handle level 3 service desk ticket escalation as needed.

• Experience level: Experienced
• Minimum 3 years of experience
• Education: Bachelors
