RAND The RAND Corporation is Hiring a Security Specialist Near Santa Monica, CA

Job Type: Regular Security Specialist The RAND Corporation seeks a Security Specialist who will be responsible for implementing RAND security policies and procedures related to government classified information, personnel security, physical security, and safety. The position will report to the Manager - Security, Intelligence, and Risk Management, and support operations across all RAND sites. Duties Personnel Security: Maintain various lists in support of personnel security. Assist with the security clearance process for new and current employees. Assist in maintaining electronic personnel security files. Assist with multiple security databases and sites including DISS, e-QIP, SIMS, SharePoint, access management, and security information. Assist with the fitness process for new and current employees Physical Security: Support Emergency Response Team management Assist with managing the unescorted visitor process Respond to Security Helpdesk issues Assign access cards, program cards into the system, and update and maintain the door lock system Assist with the lock & safe program. Security & Classified Operations Training: Assist with documentation of required security training for all associates. Assist with content development and deployment of required security training for all associates. Implement security procedures according to the NISPOM Rule, DCIDs, and ICDs: Communicate security topics with management Provide input into relevant security policies and procedures Generate and report metrics for security Perform record reconciliation and data entry Assist with managing the International Travel Reporting system. Perform other duties as required. Basic Qualifications Must have experience supporting security and classified operations for a contractor or government agency, and meeting national security and intelligence community client requirements Knowledge of National Industrial Security Program (NISPOM) Rule and other government regulations Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn new computer applications Excellent verbal and written communication skills required Proficiency in DISS and SF-86. Ability to adjust quickly and adapt to changing priorities. Discretion and professional demeanor Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team. Attention to detail Strong organizational skills Proven customer service skills Must be able to pass a background check Experience At least one year of relevant experience required. At least three years of relevant experience preferred. Education High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required. AS/AA degree preferred but not required. Security Clearance Must possess and maintain at least a Secret U.S. government security clearance, or if Secret U.S. government security clearance is no longer active, must have possessed a Secret U.S. government security clearance within the past 24 months. Location Santa Monica This position can allow for a hybrid onsite/remote work arrangement of working remotely up to two days per week. Positions Open One Salary range: $43,500 - $62,900 RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate’s work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity.
