DESCRIPTION

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for volunteer engagement within the organization: recruiting, placing, training and recognizing volunteers. Volunteers are critical to running programs and administration at Rancho Cielo. This person will also coordinate facility rentals at Rancho Cielo.

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt, Part Time Mon-Fri (some evenings and weekend shifts required)

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Volunteer Recruitment, Management and Administration

• Team with development director, Program Staff and Administration to determine volunteer needs
• Recruit volunteers, network with industry, social and service groups to recruit.
• Use social media and PR.
• Interview volunteers to create profile of skills, interests and abilities
• Facilitate background checks as needed
• Maintain up to date, clear, easily accessible records of volunteers and their skills in online database
• Coordinate with volunteer centers; update Rancho Cielo’s volunteer needs on websites, including Rancho Cielo’s
• Work with businesses to plan their corporate social responsibility volunteer days; with schools for community service hours; with CSUMB for service learning
• Uncover meaningful volunteer opportunities at Rancho Cielo, match volunteer to role
• Create written job descriptions for volunteer assignments
• Evaluate volunteer participation and performance monthly
• Constantly evaluate job match between volunteer and assignment, making adjustments when necessary
• Plan and execute Rancho Cielo’s Volunteer recognition night
• Train staff that will supervise the volunteer

Facility Rentals

• Coordinate on-campus rentals (not Culinary)
