CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)

We provide person-centered care and strive to deliver outstanding customer service to our residents, families, and vendors.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will provide direct care to our residents as part of a dynamic team. Working under the direction of the professional nurse and administrative staff CNAs are certified staff who provide basic care to residents by assisting them with daily activities such as bathing and getting dressed, complete documentation via electronic medical records, pass medications in compliance with patient safety practices. CNAs interact with family members of residents, and work as a team with fellow Care Partners, House Managers, Site Directors, and nursing staff.

Part Time (6:30pm-3:00pm)

Wage Range: $19.50 to $21.50 per hour commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Documents resident needs and status in electronic medical record, to include accidents and injuries.
  • Passes medication and completes online charting (training provided).
  • Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  • Provides adjunct care by administering enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths.
  • Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight, testing urine and recording intake and output information.
  • Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; answering patients’ requests; and reporting observations of the patient to supervisor.
  • Documents actions by updating electronic health record.
  • Assists with outings and activities, resident guest visits, and volunteer-led activities.
  • Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.
  • Provides and maintains a safe environment for residents and staff by following safety and regulatory guidelines. Always uses appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential.
  • Serves and protects the Rakhma community by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements including Minnesota’s Vulnerable Adult Laws, Resident Bill of Rights and HIPAA.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
  • Enhances Rakhma Homes’ reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Requirements

CNA Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of relevant nursing care.
  • Friendly and professional bedside manner.
  • Maintains current CPR certification.
  • Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills.
  • Understands legal implications of patient care.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Certification with accredited training course through the State of Minnesota.
  • Current certification through American Heart Association in Basic Life.
  • 2 years of nursing assistant experience beneficial.
  • Dementia experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities for Success:

  • Excellent communication, critical thinking and leadership skills.
  • Employee must pass medication administration course within 90 days of hire.
  • Proven ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ability to anticipate and respond effectively to emerging needs.
  • Ability to remain calm and redirect residents in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Availability to reliable transportation.
