As our Payroll Manager will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of the company’s payroll, overseeing the Payroll team, maintaining employee personnel records, and conducting payroll reporting and auditing duties. The Payroll Manager ensures high level of customer support, administrative efficiency and works cooperatively with other HR team members to simplify and automate our processes. 

This is a hybrid position that will require three days in office.

What you will do:

  • Process, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll for employees in the organization.
  • Partner with Payroll team to ensure an ongoing focus on compliance, accuracy, process improvement, and efficiency in all areas.
  • Provide leadership to direct reports which includes effective performance management, feedback, coaching and employee development.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legislation changes that impact payroll and tax to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws and verify hours worked, paid time off, deductions, and pay adjustments.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance Team on reporting and the accounting close.
  • Address and resolves employee questions relating to payroll.
  • Establish effective working relationships with third party vendors and hold them accountable for meeting service level commitments.
  • Enter, maintain, and/or process information in the HRIS; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, holidays, deductions and withholdings, and other information.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year end reports.
  • Ensure all taxes are reconciled, processed, and paid in a timely manner.
  • Conduct all Quarterly and Year End payroll tasks.
  • Monitor overall payroll system and processes and makes recommendations to improve effectiveness.
  • Partner with Benefit Administrator on 40l(k) enrollment and communications.
  • Serve as backup to Benefit Administrator.
  • Review contracts and provides other administrative support for union negotiation process.
  • Maintain and provides data for audits as required.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Things you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of payroll experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of tax and wage laws and best practices preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using ADP to process payroll or similar HRIS.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP Certification) a plus.
  • Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with HR team members.
  • Proven ability to prioritize employee needs by providing prompt responses, soliciting feedback to improve service, and consistently meeting expectations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to independently manage time to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment with reliability and accuracy.
  • Open to ongoing feedback from Human Resources team, coworkers, and leaders to ensure the company creates and maintains an engaging work environment for all employees.
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment, and consistently take a positive and professional approach.
  • Ability to support an open and honest work environment, cascading and sharing knowledge and information relevant to other members of the team and leaders across the business.
  • Proven problem solver that can successfully and efficiently identify and solve problems by gathering and analyzing information and recommending alternative solutions.
