Radian Aerospace is Hiring a Senior CAD Designer Near Renton, WA

CAD Engineer

As a CAD Engineer, you will be joining a highly skilled, diverse team who will be responsible for prototyping/designing elements of the system using computer-aided design software applications (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Pro/ENGINEER, CATIA).

Position Responsibilities

  • Produce 3D models of mechanical and subsystem concepts for visualization
  • Aid in refining the design concepts
  • Collaborate with Cross-Departmental Teams to Understand Design Challenges
  • Work with Complex Engineering Requirements
  • Understand market-driven customer needs and how those translate to system performance and cost objectives.
  • Create drawings in both 2 and 3-dimensional form.
  • Create detailed design documentation.
  • Work with other team members to check designs for feasibility, performance, costs, quality, safety, legislation, and timing.
  • Define, create and maintain development methodologies, procedures and standards for managing and tracking designs and documentation.
  • Produce final design specifications.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in AerospaceEngineering or related discipline (extensive experience or alternate education may be considered)
  • CAD proficiency (Solidworks, Catia, ProE,etc.)
  • Strong analytical skill for novel problem
  • Good understanding of design and verification processes
  • Proficient with standard industry tools like MS Office
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to quickly and easily assess problems
  • Ability to work collaboratively and seek assistance to solve problems

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with winged systems, preferably high speed systems like supersonic / delta winged aircraft.
  • Knowledge of rocket systems, propulsions systems, vibration compensation, bellows, tanks, pressurization systems, vibration loads, cryogenic systems, fasteners, CTE considerations, etc.
  • Good experience with subsystems like actuators, landing gear, fasteners, hydraulic and pneumatic lines, wire harnesses, routing and bending radius rules, connector spacing, service loops, tie downs, abrasion prevention, etc.
  • Experience with kinematic systems, maintenance volumes, etc.

Eligibility

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
