Racker is Hiring a Social Worker Near Ithaca, NY

Overview

*Clinical Position* *School Calendar* Work towards an LCSW* *Collaboration on multidisciplinary treatment team*

Racker is excited to welcome applicants for a full-time Day Treatment Counselor to support our programs in Cortland beginning in Summer - Fall 2023. Join our dynamic interdisciplinary team of experienced clinicians in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. Our therapists have partnered with TST BOCES for over 25 years providing intensive, milieu-based mental health services to children with social-emotional and behavioral challenges. Caseloads are generally 8-10 students, and weekly individual and group clinical supervision are provided.

Licensing criteria: LCSW/LMSW, LMSW eligible along with LMHC, LMFT and LCAT. 

Salary is $45,000-$55,000 depending on experience.

Responsibilities

Direct services to children:

  • Gather information and complete assessments
  • Design and implement an individualized, comprehensive treatment plan for each assigned child his or her social, emotional and behavioral functioning in school, at home and in the community
  • Provide individual, group and adjunctive therapy to children
  • Act as case manager to coordinate goals and efforts of Day Treatment and other involved agencies
  • Provide crisis intervention services to children in need

Collaboration on multidisciplinary treatment team:

  • Understand and utilize the perspectives and techniques of other team members in treatment plan design
  • Maintain open and frequent communication with mental health and educational staff
  • Utilize problem-solving techniques to resolve differences and come to conclusions with the team
  • Willing to present and discuss clinical issues that are both general and client-specific to the larger mental health team

Support and counseling for families:

  • Keep families fully informed of issues affecting their child and the program
  • Promote open communication and mutual understanding
  • Provide support and information that families need directly or by using team members, other resources from Racker or community resources
  • Offer and deliver a full continuum of family therapy services that fully considers and respects individual needs and receptivity

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Complete all written assignments and treatment planning as per Office of Mental Health and program guidelines
  • Record weekly progress notes which relate to the children’s treatment plans and significant events
  • Write progress reports for the Committee on Special Education two times per year
  • Maintain any other assigned record keeping according to Racker’s guidelines

Other duties as assigned by supervisor and Director of Counseling for School Success

Qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Master Social Worker
    • LMSW eligible along with LMHC, LMFT and LCAT 
  • Experience with children & adolescents preferred
