Title: Director, People and Culture

Reports to: VP of Human Resources

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $115,106 - $130,208

Location: Remote

Position Summary

The Director, People and Culture will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with leadership to assess and further refine a vision for workplace culture and the firm's human resources needs and policies.
  • Facilitating a workplace culture which values learning, high-quality work product, and a diverse environment where all staff experience an inclusive and equitable setting.
  • Further developing an effective performance management system and facilitating professional development and learning opportunities, which should leverage the diverse knowledge and experience of our staff.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Manages the full-cycle recruitment process from designing the recruitment strategy, sourcing and evaluating candidates while ensuring hiring policies and processes are in place. Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Develops and implements departmental budget.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

To perform successfully in this role, incumbent should possess skills identified below:

  • A strategic and positive mindset with a demonstrated passion for managing HR and building a positive work culture.
  • You have experience managing talent recruitment and retention programs, including strengthening performance management systems and ongoing learning activities.
  • You have a demonstrated ability and are committed to an equitable and inclusive work environment and have received training in diversity, equity, and inclusion models and anti-oppression work.
  • You have experience with and a commitment to working with people from a variety of backgrounds, including different ethnic, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds and the LGBTQ community.
  • You have strong verbal and written communications skills and can work effectively with staff in a professional and supportive manner.
  • You are proactive, self-directed and have experience developing systems and processes that address the strategic needs of the organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Passion for racial justice.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
  • At least seven years of human resource management experience is required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP are highly preferred.

Additional Information

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
