Overview
R&P is looking for an individual who wants to join our team. We are a small-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients. We need a Quality Assurance Engineer with specific experience in shipboard pipe installation / configuration to support the U.S. Navy’s FFG(X) Frigate Shipbuilding Program Office (PMS 515). PMS 515 is responsible for the design, production, test and delivery of the U.S. Navy’s next generation Frigate, currently designated FFG(X). The work will be performed on-site at Fincantieri Marinette Marine, Marinette, WI and at other Government facilities onsite.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily surveillance of pipe fab shop to observe spool progress and confirm they are IAW current drawings (pipe material correctness, weld process, general spool configuration and dimensions, etc.)
- Conduct daily walk-through of modules being pre-outfitted and verify pipe installations are IAW current drawings. This includes valve, fitting types, pipe hanger types, spacing and general quality assessments.
- Monitor purchasing and delivery of long-lead items (valves and piping components) support in-yard need date.
- Review piping drawings prior to production start, identify any concerns or other non-compliance issues.
- Review all pipe flushing procedures and test procedures to provide technical comments, as needed.
- Conduct progress surveys for piping systems and provide reports to document percent complete for each.
- Develop and provide solutions or recommendations to conditions identified in shop and on ship
Qualifications
- High School Diploma with at least 10 years of relevant work experience
- Several years of experience working on piping systems and equipment
- Experience working in a shipyard environment
- Experience reading piping and ship's drawings
- Experience with various Microsoft office programs
- Active Secret Security Clearance
