QMC is headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. This position is remote. 

Summary:

Under general supervision of CFO, the Controller is responsible for the overall accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial statements and reporting systems, including maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the general ledger accounting system. Includes maintenance of chart of accounts, timely system upgrades and ensuring optimal use of the accounting system, including efficient use of report writing tools.
  • Ensures processes for timely, accurate, and efficient month-end close and ensures necessary journal entries are booked and reviewed, and timely preparation and analysis of the monthly financial statements.
  • Safeguards assets by maintaining a system of internal controls. Including maintaining integrity of internal controls over cash receipts, maintaining adequate depreciation schedules, internal controls over accounting transactions, the adherence to internal accounting policies and procedures, and the implementation of internal financial audits where necessary.
  • Supports accounting functions.
  • Oversees the accounts payable functions/services.
  • Assists CFO with special projects and as needed, including the operating budget, productivity analysis, annual cost report submission and annual financial statement audit completion.
  • Responsible for maximizing utilization of accounting system.
  • Ensures that the system provides appropriate and accurate data and is backed up on a regular basis.
  • Coordinates preparation of annual tax reports and resolves interim tax issues.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of accounts payable program/services, payroll/personnel program, and general ledger program.
  • Help optimize the capital structure and support strategic initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures regarding operations/processes.
  • Handles confidential information with tact and discretion on a need-to-know basis.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other personnel.
  • Displays a caring and helpful attitude when interacting with staff members and vendors. Strives to build cooperative partnerships.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in accounting, or a related field.
  • CPA required.

Experience

  • Healthcare industry experience required.
  • Five to Ten years of Business/Operations/Finance Management required.
  • Previous experience as an accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite experience preferred) and experience with a software system implementation.
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Time management and the ability to multitask are essential
  • Organizational skills
  • Must display sufficient written and oral communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
