Description
We are seeking high caliber Quantitative Research Interns for our Houston office to contribute to the day-to-day activities of our research teams.
What you'll do:
Based on your interest and skills, you'll be matched with projects within our research teams and work to solve real-world problems in algorithmic trading. You will tackle challenges in areas including mathematic modeling, machine learning, and computational development, and translate your findings to develop new trading strategies or optimize existing ones. Throughout the internship, you'll work closely with Quantlab researchers in an informal, collaborative environment and gain insights into what it's really like to work at our firm.
Successful internships may lead to full-time employment upon graduation.
What you'll have:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in math, physics, engineering, operations research or other highly-quantitative field
• Solid mathematical and analytical ability; exceptional problem-solving and modeling ability
• Strong knowledge of probability and statistics
• Scripting and programming knowledge: C /Python (preferred), Bash, R, Julia, or similar
• Enjoy solving complex, difficult, real-world problems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience achieving results in a collaborative environment
• Finance knowledge is NOT required

Bonus Points:

• Experience working with large simulation or experimental data sets

About Our Summer Internship Program
Projects
Our projects are based on actual challenges we face, and are designed to provide a glimpse into what we do in our day-to-day lives. You will work directly with one of our full-time researchers who will serve as your mentor. In addition, you will have regular opportunities to discuss your work with other researchers. At the end of the summer, you will present your work to the wider firm, including leaders at Quantlab and your fellow interns
Learning
You will also attend lectures & training sessions that will introduce you to the trading industry. The goal of our education program is to provide you the basic industry knowledge to better understand the work we do.
