Quality Vision International is Hiring a Production Planner Near Rochester, NY

Description

The Production Planner plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and timely execution of our metrology manufacturing processes. They collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop production plans, manage inventory levels, and optimize resource allocation. The Planner’s attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to anticipate production challenges will contribute to the company's success in meeting production targets and customer demand. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains detailed production schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.
  • Collaborates with the Purchasing team to ensure the availability of raw materials and components required for production.
  • Monitors production progress and adjusts schedules as needed to accommodate changes in demand or unforeseen production issues.
  • Works closely with the Operations team to allocate resources effectively and ensure that production targets are met.
  • Collaborates with the Engineering team to incorporate change notices into the bill of materials. 
  • Communicates and addresses all issues that arise in their assigned production areas including but not limited to issues with the bill of materials, engineering, sales, or shortages.
  • Ensures timely communication and coordination with the Master Scheduler to meet sales order requirements.
  • Identify potential production bottlenecks and develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure smooth operations.
  • Analyzes production data to identify trends, optimize production processes, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Maintains accurate records of production activities, inventory levels, and other relevant data.
  • Uses Microsoft Excel and Word programs to create reports that outline the status of work within your area of responsibility.
  • Communicates production status, delays, and potential issues to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with the Quality team to ensure that all products meet the company's high-quality standards.
  • Stays up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in production planning and metrology manufacturing.
  • Understands all areas of the business system, including order entry, inventory management, job orders, purchasing, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and related accounting functions.
  • Leads the implementation and updates of the Master Production Schedule requirements, ensuring accurate and timely execution. (Level II )
  • Manages job changes based on Engineering Change Required (ECR) (Level II )
  • Demonstrates expert-level understanding of the Business System, including order entry, inventory management, job orders, purchasing, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and related accounting functions. (Level III)

Requirements

  • High school diploma required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. Associates or Bachelors required for Levels II and III.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and processes quickly.

Level II Requirements (In addition to requirements above):

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in production planning, supply chain, or related roles. (level II)
  • Proficiency in Material Requirements Planning (MRP) concepts and tools.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Level III Requirements (In addition to all requirements above):

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in production planning, supply chain, or related roles. 
  • In-depth knowledge of metrology principles, manufacturing processes, and supply chain management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Material Requirements Planning (MRP) concepts and tools.
  • Proven leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Physical and/or Environmental Requirements: 

  • The production planner should be capable of moving around the manufacturing facility, including walking through different production areas and shop floors.
  • Comfortable with standing, walking, and occasionally traversing stairs or uneven surfaces.
  • The primary workstation of the production planner may be located within the manufacturing unit they are responsible for.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, and phones for extended periods.
  • Clear vision to read and interpret data, production schedules, and reports.
  • Ability to distinguish between different colors, labels, and markings.
  • Adequate hearing to communicate with colleagues, team members, and operators in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures within the manufacturing facility, which may include controlled environments and areas with machinery-generated heat.
  • Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels from manufacturing equipment and machinery.

Compensation:

The compensation range for this position ranges from a salary of $60,000-$80,000 based on the Production Planner level determined in the interview by the hiring team based on years of experience related to relevant work history and skills.
