Job purpose:
Candidate will be responsible for design, development and design maintenance of military and commercial hardware products. Products include robotic ground vehicles, vehicle autonomy hardware, ground robots and ruggedized military electronic equipment for maritime applications. Acting as a technical lead on projects, the candidate will perform design tasks, oversee design tasks, review and approve design documentation. Candidate should be proficient using 3-D Solid Modeling software (PTC CREO and/or Solidworks), have experience with metal fabrication design, electromechanical hardware design, and have an understanding of manufacturing techniques. The candidate shall also be "hands-on" with abilities support mechanical design and product issues related to various DOD pre-production and production programs. Candidate will also participate in the formal Engineering Change process. The candidate will provide direction and guidance to other engineers and design staff.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Required knowledge:
Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models. Experience in Model Based Definition a plus.
Manufacturing - Experience creating and working with formal design/development processes with an emphasis on transitioning projects from prototype development to production.
Required Skills:
Computer Aided Design - Must have experience with 3D CAD modeling tools. Experience with PTC Creo or Solidworks design tool.
Drafting - Must have experience with creation of detailed drawing and geometric tolerancing (ASME Y14.5).
Communication- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Computer- Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
