Overview

This person will provide IT support for a federal client for their software applications and systems in a collaborative environment with co-located Agile teams that together with our clients build high quality solutions for the agency. The QA Test Engineer designs and implements methods for quality control, testing and inspection, and process improvement to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, guidelines, and procedures, executes test cases according to project test plans, documents test defects in defect tracking tool, and reviews new or modified program, including documentation, diagram, and flowchart.

Responsibilities

• Writes, revises, and verifies quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation to attain quality of software economically and efficiently.
• Evaluates and tests new or modified software programs and the Software Development Procedures used.
• Writes documentation to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction.
• Designs and implements policies and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met during production.
• Reviews new or modified program, including documentation, diagram, and flow chart, to determine if program will perform according to user request and according to guidelines.
• Monitors program performance after implementation to prevent reoccurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation.
• Writes and maintains test plan, test cases, test scripts.
• Writes documentation to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction.
• Executes test cases, test scripts in order to test the program for validity of results. accuracy, reliability, and conformance to established standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies and techniques.
• Federal Government project experience desired.
• Maintains current knowledge in latest software development methodologies and tools.

Skills / Abilities

• Strong ability to analyze requirements and convert to detailed test cases (positive, negative, exceptions, etc…)
• Understands software testing methodologies and techniques, such as front-end functional testing, system integration testing, performance and load testing.
• Ability to write test plans, cases and record/track defects.
• Ability to use current testing tools, such as Quality Center, Bugzilla and LoadRunner.
• Understands latest software development methodologies.
• Experience working with database management system such as DB2, Oracle, and Sybase.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Works well within an Agile and Mainframe development environment.
• Creative and independent problem solver.

Education:

• College Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field.
