Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for two Instructional Designer positions. Reporting to the Vice Provost of Online Learning, the Instructional Designer positions will support the instructional design and instructional technology needs of the campus within the online modality. The position is responsible for training on instructional technologies, faculty development support and course design guidance and assistance while following Department of Education requirements for online learning.
The Instructional Designer provides faculty support in the application of learning theory to course design, the incorporation of instructional technologies into courses, and assistance in the creation of online courses and materials. The Instructional Designer analyzes and applies trends in learning technologies and instructional design, and works collaboratively with faculty and colleagues in developing and delivering high-quality learning experiences for students
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with faculty on the design of online courses based on learning theory, University and Department of Education requirements, standards and best practices in the use of technology in teaching and learning
  • Perform needs based and content analysis to assess learning needs and determine appropriate instructional strategies and course development techniques
  • Conduct training sessions for faculty learning to use and integrate technologies and innovative pedagogy into their courses
  • Facilitate online course development and delivery trainings, work closely with design team to keep trainings dynamic and current
  • Produce instructional materials (i.e., handouts, tutorials, instructional videos) to assist faculty in the use of various instructional systems and concepts
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; OR
Master's degree and one year of related experience
Related experience: Instructional Design, teaching, online learning, higher education and software/technical training or related.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
