Prosper at Monastery Heights is seeking a motivated individual to join our culinary team and carry out the Prosper core values of making life fun, making the community a home, and delivering purpose to everyone! Attitude is everything! Our culinary team works hard to provide amazing meals to the residents meeting their dietary needs and personal preferences. The position starts at $15 per hour, with an additional $0.50 per hour if and when the individual becomes ServSafe certified.
As part of the culinary team, reporting to the Food Service Director, the cook takes part in all phases of preparation of food items to be served to residents, staff and guests. It is preferred to have experience working within a restaurant or within the hospitality industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Team First. Accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner. Performs other related duties as directed by the Director. Assists with any duties during a time when the staffing is inadequate.
•Must be able to read, understand and prepare any recipe without direction or confusion.
•Must have the ability to prepare all meats, fish, soups, sauces, vegetables, and desserts and garnishes using an acceptable method; and are also appealing to the eye.
•Must be able to prepare all food (including garnishes) ordered by Prosper Residents.
•Proper garnish and the delivery, as needed or ordered.
•Will take part in and be able to prepare all of the food for catered functions. This should include: Food preparation and assembly on display trays with appropriate garnishes.
•Making sure all orders are put away and properly rotated.
•Must help the chef with overall operations of kitchen.
•Will function as chef as scheduled.
•Must take part in the sanitation of all food preparation work surfaces on a clean-as-you-go basis, as needed or assigned.
•Must perform other related tasks from time to time as directed by the Food Service Director.
•Must preserve and care for all food prepared and unprepared food so that waste and spoilage of perishables is reduced to a minimum.
•Must have completed or be willing to complete educational requirements imposed by State regulation.
•Must present self in a professional manner, display genuine concern for seniors and tact in dealing with others.
•Must have ability to read, write and communicate well.
•Must demonstrate positive image/attitude, and strong leadership abilities.
•Training required in CPR/choking.
