(OAI) seeks a full-time Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Technical Expert to support National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS) in Silver Spring, MD.CO-OPS is the authoritative source for accurate, reliable, and timely tides, water levels, currents, and other coastal oceanographic and meteorological information. If you are looking to be an instrumental part of a growing, employee and customer-focused company working on exciting issues in environmental science and other marine/coastal resources, we want to hear from you!Key Responsibilities: Serve as a technical expert and advise CO-OPS Engineering Division leadership on technical limitations, standards, and possibilities of hardware, software, theory, and standard practices for processing and analysis of GNSS data. Lead development of optimal data processing and summarizing measurements. Evaluate the vertical stability and movement of CO-OPS water level sensors and provide technical recommendations for using GNSS antenna to determine vertical stability of water level sensors. Perform calibration, installation, monitoring, and analysis of GNSS hardware and physical systems. Lead development of data processing and analysis methods to generate products and services based on GNSS data that support CO-OPS missions.Specific task requirements may include, but are not limited to: Configure the hardware and software of a GNSS Tide Buoy for use in ocean environments.Analyze the raw GNSS data from a GNSS Tide Buoy to produce water level data.Lead processing and analysis of GNSS data to determine the vertical stability of water level stations.Incorporate GNSS data and water level data into new and existing Vertical Land Motion products and services.Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications: Masters degree in oceanography, meteorology, hydrology, physics, physical science, geophysics, civil engineering, or a closely related discipline and four years of relevant experience. A Doctor of Philosophy degree in an aforementioned field may substitute for the Master's degree and four years of experience.Knowledge of oceanographic principles, theories, and practices sufficient to review and analyze data is required.Thorough knowledge of GNSS is required.Must be proficient in using the Microsoft Windows operating system, Microsoft Office applications, and Googles Collaboration Suite (e.g., Docs, Sheets, and Slides) for analyzing data and developing and editing documents and presentations.Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team, are required.General database and query experience and a working knowledge of MATLAB, Python, and/or ArcGIS may be required depending on what task(s) the position supports.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively both individually and collaboratively in a team/group setting.Ability to receive constructive feedback and implement appropriate action.Preferred: Ability to work on-site in Silver Spring, MD one to two days per week.Start Date: as soon as possibleLocation: Telecommute/RemoteSalary: This is a full-time position. Wage range is $39.93 to $44.93 per hour. Overtime is not anticipated.
